Client Reviews
Over the years, I've had many massages and whenever I changed locations, it was always hit or miss on finding someone that I really liked and appreciated for their massage techniques. In the North Dallas area, Touch Therapy Services is that place. They always know what technique to use on my sore, tired muscles (I like deep tissue massage) and always have reliable suggestions for maintaining the results from their
work. I highly recommend Touch Therapy Services.”

Stress is related to both internal and external factors. External factors include the physical environment, a job, relationships, the home, and all the situations, challenges, difficulties, and expectations a person's confronted with on a daily basis. Internal factors which influence a person's ability to handle stress include the nutritional status, overall health and fitnessbeing, the ability to control stress through relaxation techniques or other strategies, and the amount of sleep and rest a person gets. Managing stress, therefore, can involve learning tips to change the external factors which confront a person or the internal factors which strengthen the ability to deal with what comes. An important goal for those under stress is the management of life stresses. Elimination of stress is unrealistic, since stress is a part of normal life. It's impossible to completely eliminate stress. Instead, a person must learn methods to manage stress so that they have control over their stress and its effects on the physical and mental health. Chronic stress ages the body and can make cells appear up to 17 years older than they really are, according to a recent study reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. High stress levels lowers the immune system and worrying causes blood sugar to drop, and blood pressure to rise. Stress is the leading cause of heart attack in America, and heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the Unites States.
Swedish Massage Therapy is one of the most effective methods in combating stress. Massage therapy at Touch Therapy Services can reduce stress and worry, increase focus, encourage stillness, and provide a time to just BREATHE. Stress causes us to shorten our breathing and oxygen inhalation. As a result of this insufficient breathing it depletes the brain of oxygen which impairs judgment, mental focus, and even effects our decision making processes. It also depletes the flow of oxygen to the muscle tissue which fatigues the tissue quicker, and causes blood flow to lessen and myofascial adhesions to increase forming bulges within the muscle tissue. Low blood flow causes injuries, strains, and sprains to muscles, ligaments and tendons. Stress causes our muscles to tense which increases toxins to build and get lodged in the muscle tissue. Stress over stimulates the sympathetic nervous system which causes emotional and mental nervousness and anxiety.  stress and decompress the body at a cellular level. Some other effective techniques to cope with stress are
  • Exercise: Exercise can be a key, central method to compensate for stressors. Physical exercise not only promotes overall fitness, but it helps you to manage emotional stress and tension as well. Exercise and massage therapy can also aid in relaxation and improve sleep. For one thing massage can emotionally remove one temporarily from a stressful environment or situation. Exercise promotes being fit and healthy which increases your ability to deal with stress as it arises.
  • Tai chi: Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art. It has been termed a kind of "meditation in motion" and is  characterized by soft, flowing movements that stress precision and force. Also known as tai chi chuan, this method is thousands of years old. Training from a master is necessary to learn the art of tai chi.
  • Yoga: There are many forms of yoga, an ancient Indian form of exercise based upon the premise that the body and breathing are connected with the mind. The practice of yoga is thought to be over 5,000 years old. One goal of yoga is to restore balance and harmony to the body and emotions through numerous postural and breathing exercises. Yoga, which means "joining" or "union" in Sanskrit, has been called the "search for the soul" and the "union between the individual and the divine." Among the benefits of yoga are increased flexibility and capability for relaxation.
